Canada Summer games Selection

 

The following events have been established to select the BC team.

Canada Summer Games Camp and Selection Event #1

December 15 - 20, 2008
Selection Event #1 -

Note: Selection event #1 was postponed due to poor weather conditions. New camp dates to be determined.

February 14th, 2009. Participation in Hungerford Cup and afternoon seat racing.

Invitation to the Selection Camp

Athletes are invited to the December selection event based on the athletes BC RADAR score. The invitation will be based on athletes score as of November 17th, 2008.

As Canada Summer Games is an U21 event all assessments for BC RADAR scores will be compared to U23 standards. The following is an overview of the type of athlete that will be invited:

  • Athlete with Provincial Elite Academy status as of November 17th, 2008 will be invited to the selection event
  • Athletes with Provincial Development Academy status as of November 17th, 2008 will be invited to the selection event
  • Athletes with Club Elite Academy status may be invited to the selection event. If this level of athlete is invited it will be in a rank order from highest BC RADAR score to lowest.

Automatic Selection to the Canada Summer Games Team

All assessments for BC RADAR Scores will be compared to U23 standards for Canada Summer Games eligible athletes.

Athletes with a Provincial Elite status as of December 13th submission date will receive an automatic spot on the Canada Summer Games team.

The following conditions apply to automatic selection:

  • A CSG athlete is expected to maintain or increase his/her BC RADAR score between the December submission and the June 2009 submission
  • A CSG athlete is expected to attend selection events and camps as well as maintain communication with the Provincial Coach
  • Seat racing might occur if the number of Provincial Elite athletes exceed number of positions on the CSG team. For example, if three LWT women achieve Provincial Elite status, the CSG 2x might be determined using seat racing.
