Rowing BC Announces New Executive Director
Rowing BC today announced that Eron Main of Richmond, B.C., will be its new Executive Director.
"Eron brings to Rowing BC valuable experience in administration and management from many different organizations, and is well regarded as being highly effective in anything he does,” says Rowing BC President Debbie Sage. “The Board looks forward to working with him on the continued implementation of our Strategic Plan, and celebrating the successes of its outcomes.”
Mr. Main has more than 15 years of experience in national and international sport, primarily in the Paralympic movement, and served over 7 years on the executive committee of the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF). Following a lengthy career with the federal public service and the Canadian Forces, he brings extensive management and administrative skills and experience to the position including: strategic planning and policy development, systems and reporting, budgeting, grants and funding applications, relationship building with key stakeholders and funding partners, and event management. More recently, he has worked as the project lead in the establishment of a new international sport federation.
Mr. Main has a Bachelor of Engineering (Royal Military College of Canada), Bachelor of Arts (University of Manitoba) and a Masters of Information Studies from the University of Toronto in Social Sciences.
"I'm very excited to be joining the Rowing BC team. Rowing has a great history in BC and in Canada, and I am looking forward to working with the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and all members of the rowing community to build a strong future as well.” says Main of his new role. Mr. Main will be based at Rowing BC’s head office at the Sport Campus BC in Richmond, and will commence work beginning on September 9, 2009.
Outgoing Executive Director Penny Gardner, who joined Rowing BC in November of 2005, announced her intentions to leave the position earlier this year.

As a not for profit, volunteer-directed organization, Rowing BC is a proactive voice for rowing and amateur sport in BC, and a provider of quality programs and services to its membership.
