Senior Rowing

Senior rowing focuses on athletes 19 - 26 and are two categories:

  • U23 for athletes 19-23. Not all events have races for U23 but the larger regattas such as Royal Canadian Henley and National Rowing Championships do offer U23 events
  • Senior Open for athletes 24 and older

There are a number of opportunities for competition whether you want to maintain your fitness or row for the National Team.

Making the Provincial Team

Senior Rowing

The Provincial Team consists of athletes from around the province who participate in the Provincial Academy. The team is formed each year and competes at national events such as:

  • National Rowing Championships
  • Canada Summer Games (athletes must be U21)

Each of the above regattas have different age qualifications. There are provincial programs for Jr, U23, Sr, and U21 in the Canada Games year.

Provincial Team Selection

Selection to the Provincial team is based on a scoring system called BC Rowing Athlete Development And Ranking (BC RADAR) and selection criteria based on the event.
